The Horse Marketer Help
Help with this site:

Placing an ad:
  1. You must first "Register" and create your account and password. You won't have to register again. The required information is indicated by a red asterisk next to the field. Once you've created you login account, keep your password in a safe place known only to you. You are solely responsible for any information placed in your account.Anytime you want to place an ad or respond to an ad, all you will have to do is "Login". However, if your account is unused for more than a year, it may be deleted.
  2. Once you have registered, login and click "Place an ad".
  3. Select the "Ad Package" you want. Currently there are three categories:
    • Feature Photo Ad
    • Photo Ad
    • Text Ad
  4. After September 1, 2006 Feature Photo Ads will only cost $5.99, allow up to 4 photos, and run for 4 months.
  5. Photo Ads will allow 1 photo, run for 4 months and cost $3.99.
  6. All Text Ads will continue to be FREE and run for 4 months.
  7. Select the category your ad should be listed in.
  8. Enter your ad's details, and submit! (Try to make your TITLE short and to the point - this is what the search engines see!)
  9. Examples of Titles: "Champion Western Pleasure Arabian", "Cutting Horse - Sorrel AQHA", "Palomino Paint"...Short - but what someone may put into a search engine.
  10. Your ad may NOT appear IMMEDIATELY....sometimes you may leave out an item that the auto upload considers important. Once that occurs your add will enter a queue waiting for approval. The ads are checked every 24 to 48 hours and any found in the queue will be approved unless critical data is missing - like contact information. If there is a problem with the ad, all effort will be made to contact the poster. If no contact is made the ad will not be posted.
  11. You may upload photos directly from your home computer! These can be no larger than 400 pixels wide. Any larger will automatically be resized. The best format for a photo is as a .jpg or .gif. The photo can be uploaded as follows:
Click the 'browse' button in the classifieds, then locate the folder on your computer the image is stored in. Once you've located the image double click on it and you will see the pathway recorded next to the browse button. Click the "add image" button below the image and it will be uploaded to The Horse Marketer. Do this with up to four photos.
  12. Selling tips:
    • Since most of you will use your email address as contact, check it regulary for inquiries!
    • Use the best photos of your horse possible. Try to use least one good "Conformation" shot. This should be shot with the horse standing as square as possible on level ground without the head or neck turned. These shots give the buyer a good look at legs and how your horse is "put together".
    • Give the buyer as much info as possible. For example, what do you mean by "Greenbroke"? Some folks mean the horse will quietly walk, trot, and canter but not know leads, or have a "headset", where other folks consider greenbroke as "Well, he leads, and we've had a saddle on him!".
  13. Pictures:
    • Try to keep your photos of a size considered reasonable online. This would be no larger than 400 x 400 pixels and no larger that 40,000 bytes.
  14. CHANGING A PHOTO: At this time any photo changes can only be done by placing a new ad with the new/changed photo(s) and deleting the old photo. You may also send a request with your photo and changes to thehorsemarketer@gmail.com Any changes requested will take up to 48 hours to complete.
Your ad will be automatically listed, and the administrator notified of your listing. If your ad doesn't show up immediately, it is usually because one of the required fields was left out. Either check your ad again, or contact the webmaster via email. Someone will respond within 24 to 48 hours. The ads are viewed regularly for appropriateness, and any ad not fitting our "Terms of Use" criteria will be inactivated. The Horse Marketer reserves the right to remove any ads (without warning) that are deemed to be offensive, obscene, or illegal in nature.

When the "Free Introductory Period" has expired, payments for paid ads will be made by securely using your credit card through the PayPal payment service. (More about PayPal) You do NOT need a PayPal account to send your payment. You can use a credit or debit card to submit payment for your ad. You must make payment before the ad will be made available on the website. Once you sell your item, please log into the site and delete your item or email The Horse Marketer and request your ad be marked sold. This will keep you from being deluged with email or telephone requests.
